Load PKR 1,000 on Jazz and wonder why the balance is less? This calculator shows the usable Jazz balance you actually get after advance income tax and GST/FED — and works in reverse to tell you how much to recharge for a target balance. At common assumptions, a PKR 1,000 load gives about PKR 684 usable.

Jazz par 1000 ka load kiya, balance kam mila? Tax ke baad asal balance dekhiye — aur ulta bhi: kitna load karein target balance ke liye.

Formula & how it works

Each levy is applied to its own base, in the operator's billing order:

  • Advance income tax on the load (adjustable for filers)
  • GST / FED on the service, on the amount remaining after the above
  • optional service charge
  • Usable balance = load − all deductions

The levies are never added together as a single rate — advance income tax and GST/FED do not share a base. To hit a target balance the load is grossed up: load = target ÷ ((1 − AIT)(1 − GST)).

How Jazz balance is calculated

When you recharge Jazz, two taxes come out before the balance reaches your account: advance income tax (a withholding tax on the recharge) and GST / FED on telecom services. The advance income tax is charged on the face value of the load; the GST/FED is charged on the service. Your usable balance is the load minus these deductions. Because the two levies sit on different bases, you cannot simply add the percentages — the calculator applies them in the correct order.

How much load for a PKR X balance?

To land a specific usable balance, switch the calculator to “Balance → load”. It inverts the formula and grosses up the recharge: load = target ÷ ((1 − advance tax rate)(1 − GST/FED rate)). For example, to keep a full PKR 1,000 usable at the default assumptions you would load around PKR 1,461. This two-way view is the useful part — most calculators only work forwards.

Taxes on Jazz recharge

The two deductions are set by the government, not by Jazz:

  • Advance income tax (withholding): deducted on the recharge and adjustable — if you are a filer you can claim it against your annual tax when you file your return, which is one more reason to be on the Active Taxpayers List.
  • GST / FED on services: a consumption tax on telecom usage, and not refundable.

The exact percentages change with federal and provincial budgets, so the calculator keeps them editable rather than hard-coding a figure that could quietly go stale.

Jazz vs other networks

The tax on prepaid recharge is statutory — set by the FBR and the provincial revenue authorities — so it applies identically to Jazz, Zong, Ufone and Telenor. The usable balance on a given load is therefore effectively the same whichever network you use; for any network, the generic mobile recharge tax calculator uses this same engine.

Frequently asked questions

On a Jazz recharge you get the load minus advance income tax and GST/FED on services. Using common assumptions (15.0% advance income tax and 19.5% GST/FED), a PKR 1,000 load gives roughly PKR 684 of usable balance — about a 31.6% total deduction. Rates are set by the FBR and provincial authorities, so edit them in the calculator to match your latest tax certificate.
