Formula & how it works

Deductions are applied to your recharge amount:

  • Advance / withholding tax on the load
  • GST / FED on the service
  • optional service charge
  • Usable balance = recharge − all deductions

To hit a target balance, the recharge is grossed up: recharge = target ÷ (1 − total deduction rate).

Example calculations

Example: recharge PKR 1,000 with 15% advance tax and 19.5% GST/FED — about PKR 345 is deducted, leaving roughly PKR 655 usable. To keep a full PKR 1,000 usable, you would need to load around PKR 1,527. Adjust the rates above to match the latest notifications.

Where your mobile load goes

Prepaid users in Pakistan often feel their balance disappears faster than expected. The main reason is up-front deductions: advance income tax and GST/FED are taken at recharge, before you make a single call. Filers can usually adjust the advance income tax portion when filing their return, which is one more reason being on the Active Taxpayers List pays off.

Frequently asked questions

A prepaid recharge typically has advance income tax (withholding) plus GST/FED on services, and sometimes a service charge. Together these can take a sizeable chunk of your load. The exact rates are set by the FBR and provincial revenue authorities and change with budgets — the calculator uses editable defaults you can adjust.
