Formula & how it works

Zakat is due on net zakatable wealth above the nisab:

  • Zakatable wealth = all zakatable assets − liabilities due
  • Nisab = 7.5 tola gold (or 52.5 tola silver) × today's rate
  • Zakat = 2.5% × zakatable wealth (if it meets nisab)

Example calculations

Example: PKR 700,000 cash and savings + PKR 1,500,000 of gold − PKR 200,000 of bills due = PKR 2,000,000 zakatable wealth. Above the silver nisab, Zakat at 2.5% is PKR 50,000. Enter your own figures above.
