Professional help

Inheritance is a serious religious and legal matter. Please confirm shares with a qualified scholar (mufti) and a lawyer before distributing an estate.

Formula & how it works

The calculator applies the standard faraid steps for common heirs:

  • Fixed shares (fard) for spouse and parents (e.g. wife 1/8 with children, mother 1/6)
  • Residue (asaba) to children — a son takes twice a daughter's share
  • Daughters-only case: 1/2 for one daughter, 2/3 shared for two or more
  • Basic adjustments for ʿawl (reduction) and radd (return of surplus)

Example calculations

Example: an estate of PKR 50,000,000 with a surviving wife, mother, two sons and one daughter — the wife takes 1/8 and the mother 1/6 as fixed shares, and the remaining residue is split among the children with each son receiving twice a daughter's share. The calculator shows the rupee amount per heir.

Islamic Inheritance (Faraid) in Pakistan

Dividing an estate fairly under Islamic law is a duty — and getting the shares right matters. This simplified inheritance calculator estimates the split among the most common heirs. It is not a religious ruling; please consult a qualified scholar. See related tools in the Property Calculators Pakistan hub.
