A 300-unit bill since April 2024: what you paid, and what it is worth today
Monthly bill, 300 units, unprotected · Apr 2024 – Oct 2026 · rupees
How to read it: the green line is the rupee amount on the bill. The orange line restates each month's bill in October 2026 rupees using the CPI from our inflation page, so the gap between the lines shows whether electricity got cheaper or dearer than everything else.

Methodology
Each bill is rebuilt from its parts: the residential slab rates in force that month, the fixed charge, the fuel charges adjustment NEPRA approved for consumption two months earlier, any quarterly adjustment in force, the financing cost surcharge, and sales tax. The billing lag rule: the adjustment for consumption month M is charged in the bill for month M+2 (the decision's own billing month is used where it names one).
Protected households (at or below 200 units in each of the previous six months) pay the protected rates with the benefit of one previous slab. Unprotected households pay every unit at the rate of the slab their consumption falls in. From February 2026 the fixed charge is per kW of sanctioned load, so the bills assume the loads stated above the table. Where a decision excludes a group from a refund (for example protected consumers, or domestic consumers up to 300 units), the excluded households get no refund that month.
Add-ons: general sales tax at 18% on energy, fixed charge, adjustments and surcharge; electricity duty at 1.5% and the Rs 35 TV fee until June 2025; the income-tax withholding line varies by consumer and is left out. Provincial relief schemes are not included. The real-terms line divides each bill by the CPI index for its month and multiplies by the October 2026 index.
Coverage: bills are complete from April 2024. 10 bill months are pending (Jul 2023 to Nov 2026): the quarterly adjustments for July 2023 to March 2024 were set per consumer category in tables not yet read, and the newest month waits for NEPRA's next fuel decision. Nothing is estimated: a missing component leaves the total blank.
