Islamic inheritance calculator Pakistan
This calculator distributes an estate under Islamic inheritance (wirasat) using Hanafi faraid, the most widely followed school in Pakistan. It deducts funeral costs, debts and a valid bequest (capped at one-third), then assigns each heir their fixed Quranic share or residuary portion, with blocking, Awl and Radd. Shares are exact fractions, reconciling to one whole estate before rupees. It is an educational estimate; Shia (Ja'fari) rules differ and are a separate tool.

How the shares are calculated
Islamic inheritance distributes the net estate in a fixed order:
- Deductions — funeral and burial costs, then debts (including unpaid Mehr), then a valid bequest (Wasiyyat) capped at one-third of what remains.
- Fixed shares (furud) — each entitled heir receives a set Quranic fraction (1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 2/3, 1/3, 1/6).
- Residue (asaba) — what remains goes to the residuary heirs; sons and daughters split it 2:1.
- Awl — if the fixed shares exceed the estate, all are scaled down proportionally.
- Radd — if the fixed shares fall short and there is no residuary, the surplus returns proportionally to the fixed-share heirs (never to a spouse).
Every share is computed as an exact fraction using whole-number arithmetic, so the shares reconcile to exactly one whole estate before any rupee rounding. The calculator then reconciles rounding onto the largest share so no rupee is lost or invented.
